The Maryland Retriever Club is dedicated to the development and improvement of the retriever breeds, primarily the Labrador, the Chesapeake and the Golden Retriever. More recently the Poodles are competing in the AKC hunt tests.
To that end, the club serves the needs, not only of the ardent field trailer, but also the hunter, and dog owners involved in obedience and agility events. The club offer opportunities for its members to participate in a number of different activities depending upon the interest of the member.
For the Hunter:
For the hunter, The Marland Retriever CLub puts on annual hunt tests and offers the hunting fraternity an opportunity to sharpen the skills of both hunter and retriever alike.
For the Field Trialer:
Many of our members initially join the club due to their interest in hunting and go on to develop an interest in field trials and hunt test competitions. The field trial training and competition offers the ultimate challenge to the man-dog team. A number of our members have gone on to develop Amateur Field Champions (AFC), Field Champions (FC), and Master Hunting Champions (MH). Some have gone on to compete in the National Championship Stakes held every year by the AKC.
The Maryland Retriever Club welcomes new members regardless of their experience and encourages family memberships, as the activities lend themselves to family participation. |
